QR-Codes till death

This is quite a bizarre title but I had to write like this ;)

We just found out that in Japan (the QR-Code heaviest-user country) a company is engraving a link to de death personal information such as biography, pictures o genealogical tree. Maybe it is not very useful, but it is so weird we wanted to share it with you.

Tune your mobile phone, you nerd

As we said in our post “Yes, Size Matters… but not that much” the main problem of mobile phones in order to read a small 2D code are its limited optical (macro/focus). They do very badly in short distance.3, 2, 1… Attachable lens to mobile phone cams. ¡Whoooaaa!

It’s true, it is an awful artefact that would only be used by someone stacking 6 pens and 2 pencils in his shirt pocket, and that carries around a compass, a calculator watch and broken glasses. In other words, a Nerd (just like you and me). Don’t foul yourself, if you are reading this blog -or even worse, if you have it on your RSS reader- at this moment you are likely to be part of a group like this on your High-School years.

QRcode nerds

We don’t think this is going to be the ultimate solution. However it is clearly pointing out a need that mobile phone users have that companies have to consider.

If you think that you will not get away without one of these gadgets here you have a link to a store that sells them (Japanese only) where you can get one for about 1000 yen and see some other models.

Eatable QRs

The Japanese company Hertz has launched a service/product “QR Ebi-sen”, that allows companies and people print QR-Codes in cookies shrimp bread cookies

The result is a high contrats, hi-res and tasteful cookie ready to be read and swallowed.  It’s also a great present for trade-shows and parties.

We know this is one of the weirdest information we’ve posted, but nothing is too weird and you can give a shot to the new Google translator (Beta) Japanese>Englishor stamp your QR-Code on a croissant.

How do I read a QR-Code

That is the 1M$ question and we haven’t answered it yet in a post. t is very easy… FALSE!!Piedra Rosetta

The software and phones companies are slowly agreeing and new terminals are including this feature. So far, in order to be able to decode a QR in our cellphone we need to download applications through SMS, internet or via Bluetooth. It is far to be an invisible and transparent technology.

In our tab “QR-Code Readers” we collected a series of webs where you can find different readers.

As we repeat in different posts, this technology has a high penetration degree in Japan since they use more advanced cellphones and have agreed in standards more efficiently.

¡We have to be ready!
