After the unexpected success of participation of the first edition of “INTERNATIONAL CONTEST OF QR-TALES”, we could not pass up the opportunity to enjoy once again, your creativity in a MICRO format.

We know, rumour has it that qrcode.es is preparing the second edition of the contest, and most of you have been improving your new tales during these months, just in case.

Well, finally, we could confirm the good news, qrcode.es launches:

II CONTEST OF STORIES THAT FIT ON A QR CODE

The QR-code, for the non experts, is the barcode successor. A Standard that allows us to decode information (text, url, sms...) in a graph like this:

Even if you don't believe it, here is written the micro short store of Augusto Monterroso "When he woke up, the dinosaur was still there."

To decode the information shown it is needed to have a mobile phone (or similar handset) with a camera and QR-codes reader (those who don't have it will be the ones who will enjoy your short stories the most).

If you want to be up to date and have your short story in bits, TAKE PART NOW IN OUR CONTEST!! Just go to our PARTICIPATE section and send us your story. Remember it should not have more than 100 characters (spaces included).

QR-codes up to 100 characters (spaces included) are read properly by the phones we use nowadays. You can guess why we do not launch a novel contest.

Deadline is 23:59 of 20th april 2009, and the winner will be announced 23th april 2009, Saint George’s day here in Catalonia.

Contest rules are similar to last year, but if you don’t remember them or that’s the first time you heard about a tale on a qrcode you could look them up on the CONTEST RULES Section.

NOTE FOR LAZYBONES: Yes, you could send again the tales you sent last year but we do not reccomend it. The reason is simple, if they didn’t win last year probably they weren’t so good. Anyway, it’s you decision.

SOME USEFUL DEFINITIONS

Mobile phone: invention that allows us to speak over the phone from anywhere, as long as there is signal, wireless.

QR-code: is the barcode successor. A Standard that allows us to decode information (text, url, sms...) in a graph like this. To decode the information from the code, it is hended to have a handset mobile phone with digital camera and a QR-code reader.

Cool mobile phone (last generation handset): mobile phone with all kind of additional services: camera, internet, bluetooth... and QR-code reader by default.
